What kind of memberships are available?

STC offers a variety of memberships! From annual Adult, Junior, Student and Family memberships to casual one (1) or two (2) month memberships. See ‘Memberships’ page for more info.

What is a casual membership?

A casual memberships allows players to be part of the STC without the commitment to a full year.
A casual membership is limited to one or two months within a given season.

Self-Rating

Do I need to self-rate to play in the leagues?

Yes - self-rating is required to participate in the leagues and ladder play to ensure fair, competitive matches and a positive experience for all players.

How do I self-rate?

Tennis Canada has developed a ‘Self-Rating Guide’ to help players identify their level of tennis ability.
Please use the linked Guide to determine your rating.

How do I input my self rating?

Once you are logged in to your membership portal there will be a box titled ‘Player Connect’ (second row - third column).
Select ‘Update My Player Profile’ and input your rating where noted “My Rating Is:____”.


Adult Leagues & Clinics

Is there a minimum skill level required to participate in the Adult Leagues/Clinics/Mixers?

ADULT LEAGUES

Monday Mixed Doubles League
Thursday Night Men’s Doubles
Thursday Night Ladies Doubles

For players who know the general rules of tennis, know how to keep score and can maintain a rally.
Please note these are competitive leagues.

Tuesday Night Singles

For players at the intermediate/advanced level. The ability to maintain a rally is recommended. Please note this is a competitive league.

Tuesday Morning Ladies Doubles (Drop-in)
Wednesday Morning Men’s Doubles (Drop-in)

For players of all abilities! A knowledge of scoring, etiquette and how to play tennis is recommended. These are social leagues.

ADULT CLINICS AND MIXERS

Beginner Clinic

For new players - no previous experience required.

Skills Clinic

For players of all skills and levels !

Social Mixers

For players of all skills and levels!
These are social events which invites everyone to play.


Events & Tournaments

Is there a required min and max capacity for Events & Tournaments?

Yes.
A min number of players is required to ensure enjoyable match play.
We also set a max number of participants to limit wait times between matches and ensure everyone gets quality time on the court!

Is there a Waitlist if the max capacity is reached?

Yes! Your name will be added to the Waitlist if you register for an event that has reached max capacity.
If you made it on the Waitlist, please keep an eye on your email to see if a spot has become available.

Can I remove myself from an Event or Tournament after I’ve registered?

Of course! We understand that plans can change.
If the Club cancels the event, your registration fee will be fully credited to your account.
If you cancel and another player is able to take your spot, you’ll also receive a credit.
If you cancel and no replacement player is available, the registration fee will remain your responsibility.


Misc.

Does STC offer any financial assistance programs?

Not at this time. However, there are a couple of financial assistance opportunities available such as Love-All Foundation (Justin Bourassa Memorial Fund) and Jumpstart (Canadian Tire Program).

Does STC have any association with the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club (SGCC)?

The Sarnia Tennis Club (STC) and Sarnia Golf and Curling Club (SGCC) are two separate clubs.
STC and SGCC do have a reciprocal agreement where STC members are able to access the two (2) restaurants at SGCC.
